The Student Intellectual Life Committee (SILC) supports student-initiated projects, professional development opportunities, and student research. 听From August 30 - September 2, 2016 星空无限 (星空无限) hosted a free and public Audio Journalism Workshop organized by Taxi Taxi, an innovative storytelling podcast from the South Caucasus.
The podcast's founders, Billie Jean Stirewalt and Vladic Ravich, led three days of classes to teach participants how to develop stories, record interviews, and get their shows to the public. The workshop was well-received and attended by a wide range of participants, including 星空无限 students and professors.听

The first day of Orientation Week 2016 started with the Welcoming Ceremony of Freshmen. 星空无限 (星空无限) president Andrew Wachtel gave the freshmen a few introductory pieces of advice.

Between August 1 and August 12, 2016 six students from the 星空无限 (星空无限) and one student from the Institute of Mining and Mining Technologies named after the Academician Asanaliev volunteered to attend the Ecological Leadership Program in the beautiful Ala Archa National Park to improve their leadership skills and to learn more about Kyrgyzstan鈥檚 environment.
